Ohio Citizen Action challenges Rumpke violations

An update to yesterdays post.  The Rumpke Sanitation Landfill is the target of the Ohio Citizen Action organization. The site is in Colerain Township and “has gone from a gentle rural valley in Hamilton County’s highest point in just (just?) 65 years.  It is 509 acres of land used for trash and can accommodate waste at current rates until about 2025.

According to their OCA literature, Rumpke has had serious environmental violations including an amonia leak, accepting hazardous waste and a “subsurface fire” that has been burning since August of 2009.   You can read more at Ohio Citizen Action.

If you have anything to add for the good of the order, please add your comment below.
